During a tour of forests in the Regional Park Mura-Drava in Međimurje County, a team from ZEO Nobilis stumbled upon a discarded animal carcass in the forest near the villages of Podbrest and Orehovica.

The case was immediately reported to the municipal police responsible for that area and to the Čakovec Veterinary Station so that the remains of the discovered carcass could be properly and timely removed.

The Eco Pan Green phone received a report in which the applicant is concerned about the actions of her neighbor; specifically, the neighbor in question kills swallows with his air rifle. She asks what to do or how to prevent him from doing that? Swallows are a strictly protected species under the Ordinance on strictly protected species (Official Gazette 144/13) and the Nature Protection Act (NN 80/13) explicitly prohibits their killing, destruction of nests, habitat destruction and the like.

Event after the last year’s withdrawal of snow.
Dead chickens saga that continues (every year we have several reports concerning dead chickens in the lead role, since there are lots of chicken farms in the surrounding area, and obviously, unscrupulous citizens who do not dispose of the carcasses in the prescribed manner).

Anonymous report from an anonymous town in Međimurje County. A gentleman was walking his dog and came to some arable land full of dead chickens scattered all around.

Via the Green Phone of Pan, Association for Environment Nature and Protection, we received a report on wounded swan in a forest near Orlovac.

The wounds of the injured swan have been healed by dr.vet.med. Mladen Bulat from Karlovac who was informed thereof by the Centre 112. According to the veterinarian Bulat, visibly exhausted swan had an injured leg from which he removed a round bullet.

Two months after the rat cull was carried out in Osijek, the rat problem, especially in a village Sjenjak, is still present. During the last week we received several complaints via the Green Phone of Zeleni Osijek. Their number is no longer a problem, but the methods of getting rid of them. The alarming fact is that citizens are trying to solve the problem on their own initiative and put poison in public places of their own volition, without thinking about the consequences that may be far more dangerous than the problem itself.

We received a report by Mr. Miljenko Rakić from the village Buković number 80 via the Green Phone of Eco Zadar on the inhuman conditions of keeping pigs on neighbouring farm of the late Vladimir Rakić.

Current residents of the said farm keep the animals in poor and inhumane conditions (open sewage, poor conditions, the unbearable stench spreads around ...). Neighbours cannot open their windows or stay outside the house because of unbearable stench (elderly and sick residents live nearby), which is very difficult during the summer heat.

The Ministry of Environmental and Nature Protection says that Međimurje County (and the whole part of northern Croatian) is a promised land for the owners of poultry houses.

The following example comes from the village Palinovec where 6 poultry houses with more than 40,000 fattening chickens are located only 30 meters from the pond used by the locals for many years now as a promenade, as the track for various sports activities and for traditional sports-fishing competition for children and for teaching in nature, in cooperation with the elementary school Hodošan.
