Green Phone Network

From the very beginning of the Green Phone, of all the problems that they notice in the environment citizens most commonly report problems which are directly or indirectly related to waste.

In 2016, out of a total of 2,562 reports received at the Croatian Green Phone Network, 36% is in the category of waste.

072 123 456 is the number of the Green Phone, the service through which citizens across Croatia can report various environmental issues and make suggestions, while activists from civil society organisations forward the information to the competent institutions.

In the period from 1 January 2016 to 30 June 2016, citizens contacted the Green Phones in Croatia 1263 times. The largest number of reports is in the Waste category. In 2014, a total of 457 reports were received in this category, which is more than 36% of the total number.

It all started 26 years ago with the idea of ​​starting a telephone line where citizens can report problems in the environment or to make suggestions, and the on-call person transmitted the information to the competent institutions. Three years later, the idea was, under the name of Green phone, realized in Zagreb, at the Green Action association.

2707 citizens’ reports were received at the Green phones of Croatia in the period from 1st of January to 31st of December 2015.

The analysis of calls was prepared by members of the Green phone network in the framework of the project "Partnership for the environment" funded by the European Union and co-financed by the Office for Associations of the Croatian Government.

Green phones receive citizens’ reports on environmental issues from all over Croatia at the unique number of 072 123 456 for Croatia.

Within the "Partnership for the Environment: Development of capacity in the environmental protection of the public and civil sector in Croatia through the implementation of the Green phone service " project, funded by the European Union, a seminar on public participation was held in Split by the association Eco Pan from Karlovac from 24th to 27th November 2015.
