Green phone Bulletin is Spreading the Green phone service project final product. This project is being implemented with a grant given through the Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe's SECTOR Programme, funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation agency (Sida).

SECOND WORKSHOP FOR NEW GREEN PHONE ACTIVISTS

Workshop on ''Establishment of Green phone Network, Communication with media, cooperation with citizens, local authorities, inspections and business sector '', was taken on March, 28th tlll 30th , 2008. in Novi Sad and April, 11th till 13th, 2008. in Mostar. This workshop is part of ''SPREADING THE GREEN PHONE SERVICE'' project in partnership with Ecological Association Bura, BIH and Volunteers center of Vojvodina and Nature conservation movement, Serbia, financed by REC. Ana Bajsić, Dora Radosavljević, Duška Perić i Atana Grbić Martinović, all longtime activists on Green phone Service Croatia, were conducting the workshop topics as it follow:

• Cooperation with citizens (tools and rules), Examples of good practice
• Cooperation with local authorities and State Inspections (tools and rules), Examples of good practice
• Cooperation with business sector (tools and rules), Examples of good practice
• Cooperation with media (tools and rules), Examples of good practice

Beside Workshop, Green phone Service Address books were promoted on press conference.

Green phone network Croatia 3665 calls had receive!

From January till December 2007, 3665 calls were received on the Green Phone Network Croatia unique phone number 062 123 456. 894 calls, 24,39% of all reported problems, were problems with wastage. Green areas is number two problem in Croatia. 565 call were recieved which is 15,42% of all reported problems. The third category with 368 calls is building. This amount make 10,04% of all reported problems. More on Call statistics?

Research and comparation of EU and Croatian Standards in waste management II brochure published

Under the program Green Phone Network in researching and comparation of EU and Croatian Standards in waste management, financially supported by National Foundation for Civil Society Development, Network had published the brochure in 2005. named Research and comparation of EU and Croatian Standards in waste management. The brochure describe waste management state in 2005. throughout four categories: municipal, recoverable, organic and hazardous waste.

Today, two years after waste management state is changing.

After two years of researching and monitoring as well as Green Phone providing, Green Phone Network members have collected and elaborated data on waste management in Croatia. They are included in Research and comparation of EU and Croatian Standards in waste management II brochure. Collected data are pointing if there are any changes in waste management, field included by etc. Those changes are more efficient in legislate than in law implementation for example.

WORKSHOP FOR NEW GREEN PHONE ACTIVISTS

From the10th till 12th of October Green Action, Zagreb will be host of three day long workshop on ''Establishment of Green phone Service (GPS) and Environment protection needs'' for the activists on newly established Green Phone Services in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This workshop is part of ''SPREADING THE GREEN PHONE SERVICE'' project in partnership with Ecological Association Bura, BIH and Volunteers center of Vojvodina and Nature conservation movement, Serbia, financed by REC.

Mirela Bilokapić, Valentina Mesarić, Milena Radošević and Jasna Šumanovac, all longtime activists on Green phone Service, will conduct the workshop topics as it follow:

• ''History and purpose of GPS''
• ''Environment protection needs''
• ''Necessary start up tools''
• ''Rules and regulations''
• ''Legal framework (laws and regulations in regions)''
• ''Structure of institutions of the state authority related to environment protection and their areas of operation''
• Examples of calls and cases and their troubleshooting
• Practising the problem solving

Beside Workshop, educational handbook Guideline for work on Green phone service will be presented. This Guideline is practical toolkit for all those new Green phone activists.

"SPREADING THE GREEN PHONE NETWORK" REGIONAL PROJECT STARTS

SPREADING THE GREEN PHONE NETWORK is project in partnership of Green phone network Croatia represernted by Environmental Association Pan – Karlovac, Environmental Association ''Bura'' Mostar from BIH and Volunteer's Centre of Vojvodina and Nature Conservation Movement from Serbia.

Project will last till May, 2008 and it will be financially supported by REC ( Regional Environmental Center) SECTOR framework programme with 35 000 Euro.

During the project period members of Green phone network in Croatia will transfer the knowledge (workshops, trainings, study visits) of Green phone service to a group of environmental CSOs in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. By motivating and supporting local activists with the objective of setting up 2 Green phone offices in each country and to initiating the establishment of a Green phone network in each country we will increase the awareness of citizens and local authorities regarding the importance of environmental protection in urban areas, cooperation and implementation of sustainable development principles.
