SPREADING THE GREEN PHONE PROJECT FINAL RESULTS

  • 2 GPS set up in Serbia
Volunteers’Centre of Vojvodina and Nature Conservation Movement from Novi Sad and The Landscapes Movement of Pančevo from Pančevo partnership assembled,unique 0700123456 number provided and both CSOs are attached to it, and all necessary equipment for both office in Serbia was provided
  • 2 GPS set up in BIH
Environmental Association Bura Mostar and Friends of nature Movement “Swamp” from Čapljina partnership assembled, unique 080 080 1234 number provided.
  • 164 inquires/complains in 8 months in Serbia were received
Exists five tipes of problems: waste, green area, air and water polution and animals. The biggest problem is waste with 36,59%.In 42% Green Phone was information provider, in 18% facilitator and in 40% cases Green Phone took the whole process of case solving. 53% calls were from women and 47% from men. All the inquiries were sent to authoritative institutions in Serbia.
  • 3182 inquires/complains in 12 months in Croatia were received
Waste is main problem with 779 call, what is 24,48%. Green area and building are the next on the list. In 44,89% Green Phone was information provider, in 23,33% facilitator and in 31,78% cases Green Phone took the whole process of case solving. 48,44% calls were from women and 51,56% from men. More than 2500 inquiry was sent to authoritative institutions in Croatia.Other were just information spreading like giving the info on old bateries deposits.
  • 70 % of inquires/complains related to urban sustainability problem
More than 35% are waste on the public and private area in cities. Than there are green area problems with 25% like cutting of tree in the parks, waste on the green area, destroing green area by trafic and calls related to alergenic plants in the cities. Beside this, problems with animals (10%) are common in urban areas: domestic animals in part of town where is not permissibly to have them in the garden, or improperly holding of animals as well as the problem of traffic noise with 10%.
  • More than 60 % of successfully solved issues in each region
In Serbia 65% of problems are solved or are in the process of solving (they need more time to be solved). From all received calls, 35% of them we can not solve for now. In Croatia 60% of all calls are solved. Those which are not are mostly related with illegal mining and cell phone anthena radiation.
  • Educational handbook for new GPS in regions in more than 1000 pieces was published after the collecting data on law and regulations in environment protection by all project members.

  • Joint GPS annual bulletin in 1000 pieces was published after the collecting data on practice with problem solving on GPS by project members in Serbia and Croatia.

  • GPS Address books (3. editions) in more than 2000 pieces for new GPS in regions were published after the collecting data on instituions in enviroment protection by all project members.

  • Conducted 1 workshop on establishment of GPS and environment protection needs in Zagreb
6 participants was educated on “Environment protection needs”, “Necessary start up 'tools'”, “Rules and regulations” “History and purpose of GPS”, “Examples of calls and cases and their troubleshooting”, “Practising the problem solving”, "Legal framework (laws and regulations in regions)” and “Structure of institutions of the state authority related to environment protection and their areas of operation”
  • Conducted 1 training for new GPS members in Serbia and 1 in Bosnia and Herzegovina about running the newly established GPS
11 participants were mentored in office and on field, by transfering of know-how of Green phone service providing in Croatia
  • Conducted workshop on Communication with media, cooperation with citizens, local authorities, inspections and business sector for new GPS members in Serbia and in Bosnia and Herzegovina
11 participants were educated on Cooperation with citizens, Cooperation with local authorities and State Inspections (tools and rules), Examples of good practice, Cooperation with business sector and Cooperation with media.
  • 2 conducted study visits to Croatian GP offices (Osijek and Varaždin) for Serbian CSO activists who run the newly established GP service
Study visits included activities such as office work, field visit, press promotion, visiting solar center, volunteer's centre.

  • 2 conducted ''small'' campaigns in Serbia

In Novi Sad volunteers implemeted action by striping off the sticklers from the trees, and spreading leaflets with information how to use electricity more efficient. In Pančevo education in primary school was held as well as dealing of free plants in town.


GREEN PHONE BULLETIN PUBLISHED

Green phone Bulletin is Spreading the Green phone service project final product. This project is being implemented with a grant given through the Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe's SECTOR Programme, funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation agency (Sida).

SECOND WORKSHOP FOR NEW GREEN PHONE ACTIVISTS

novi_sad.JPG Workshop on ''Establishment of Green phone Network, Communication with media, cooperation with citizens, local authorities, inspections and business sector '', was taken on March, 28th tlll 30th , 2008. in Novi Sad and April, 11th till 13th, 2008. in Mostar. This workshop is part of ''SPREADING THE GREEN PHONE SERVICE'' project in partnership with Ecological Association Bura, BIH and Volunteers center of Vojvodina and Nature conservation movement, Serbia, financed by REC. Ana Bajsić, Dora Radosavljević, Duška Perić i Atana Grbić Martinović, all longtime activists on Green phone Service Croatia, were conducting the workshop topics as it follow:

Green phone network Croatia 3665 calls had receive!

From January till December 2007, 3665 calls were received on the Green Phone Network Croatia unique phone number 062 123 456. 894 calls, 24,39% of all reported problems, were problems with wastage. Green areas is number two problem in Croatia. 565 call were recieved which is 15,42% of all reported problems. The third category with 368 calls is building. This amount make 10,04% of all reported problems. More on Call statistics

Research and comparation of EU and Croatian Standards in waste management II brochure published

Under the program Green Phone Network in researching and comparation of EU and Croatian Standards in waste management, financially supported by National Foundation for Civil Society Development, Network had published the brochure in 2005. named Research and comparation of EU and Croatian Standards in waste management. The brochure describe waste management state in 2005. throughout four categories: municipal, recoverable, organic and hazardous waste.

Today, two years after waste management state is changing.

After two years of researching and monitoring as well as Green Phone providing, Green Phone Network members have collected and elaborated data on waste management in Croatia. They are included in Research and comparation of EU and Croatian Standards in waste management II brochure. Collected data are pointing if there are any changes in waste management, field included by etc. Those changes are more efficient in legislate than in law implementation for example.

WORKSHOP FOR NEW GREEN PHONE ACTIVISTS

From the10th till 12th of October Green Action, Zagreb will be host of three day long workshop on ''Establishment of Green phone Service (GPS) and Environment protection needs'' for the activists on newly established Green Phone Services in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This workshop is part of ''SPREADING THE GREEN PHONE SERVICE'' project in partnership with Ecological Association Bura, BIH and Volunteers center of Vojvodina and Nature conservation movement, Serbia, financed by REC.

Mirela Bilokapić, Valentina Mesarić, Milena Radošević and Jasna Šumanovac, all longtime activists on Green phone Service, will conduct the workshop topics as it follow:

  • ''Environment protection needs''
  • ''Necessary start up tools''
  • ''Rules and regulations''
  • ''Legal framework (laws and regulations in regions)''

Beside Workshop, educational handbook Guideline for work on Green phone service will be presented. This Guideline is practical toolkit for all those new Green phone activists.

"SPREADING THE GREEN PHONE NETWORK" REGIONAL PROJECT STARTS

SPREADING THE GREEN PHONE NETWORK is project in partnership of Green phone network Croatia represernted by Environmental Association Pan – Karlovac, Environmental Association ''Bura'' Mostar from BIH and Volunteer's Centre of Vojvodina and Nature Conservation Movement from Serbia.

Project will last till May, 2008 and it will be financially supported by REC ( Regional Environmental Center) SECTOR framework programme with 35 000 Euro.

During the project period members of Green phone network in Croatia will transfer the knowledge (workshops, trainings, study visits) of Green phone service to a group of environmental CSOs in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. By motivating and supporting local activists with the objective of setting up 2 Green phone offices in each country and to initiating the establishment of a Green phone network in each country we will increase the awareness of citizens and local authorities regarding the importance of environmental protection in urban areas, cooperation and implementation of sustainable development principles.
