Association Green Osijek

Through the Green Phone in July this year, Zeleni Osijek has received several calls from concerned citizens regarding the disposal of railway sleepers at the Našice railway station, on the sixth track.
A large number of railway sleepers are located here, just a few meters from the houses of nearby citizens.

Via the Green phone in April this year, Green Osijek has received citizens’ reports of material damage (the place of Privlaka, not far from Vinkovci) resulted from treating of PIK's sunflower fields with herbicides for broadleaf weeds.

Locals claim that the company PIK Vinkovci when spraying their fields with herbicides also harmed the neighboring crops of locals and destroyed many gardens, vegetable gardens, orchards and other crops in the range of 1.5 km from the treated fields of sunflowers as well.

A huge problem encountered by almost all of the smaller cities in Slavonia is drainage, i.e. a partial or complete lack of the public sewerage system for domestic waste water.

On the greater part of our counties septic tanks are in use, which, by its capacity, often do not satisfy needs, and often are "cleverly" designed and made with a porous bottom, so that they do not have to be discharged often.

In april this year, Green Osijek received a report via the green phone in relation to illegal disposal of construction waste in the village Opatovac, municipality of Lovas.

The owner of the family house “disposed of” the construction waste resulting from the renovation at a nearby public area and dumped a part of it on the Danube shore in order to provide access for himself. We contacted the municipal services of the Municipality of Lovas.

In May this year, Zeleni Osijek has received an inquiry of the citizen to the Green Phone in relation to the competence of the management of the area of eco-trails Pampas-Estuary of the river Karašica, which belongs to the Recreation Area “Drava”, which, due to its natural characteristics (picturesque, forest-covered shores, sandy beaches and dunes, abundance of fish), also represents and is recognised as a recreational tourism potential of Osiječko-Baranjska County and information related to work due to which the trail was destroyed.

Although the law clearly regulates the obligation of local government to take measures for rehabilitation of wild landfills, it is not applied in practice, at least not so easily.

Recently, the Green Phone of Association Green Osijek received a report of one such site in the town of Vukovar. It is a plot owned by the Croatian Railways, which is not in operation and which is regularly used by the local population as a landfill.
